    So talented, with …
So talented, with an appreciation for the abstract qualities in cloudscapes. Unfortunate choice to then put in the bird and branch. What was interesting before was instantly rendered sentimental and trite. Scale and context might have been rendered with brushwork, in a tension between the infinite sky and the surface of the paint on the canvas.
I do appreciate his incredible creativity in rendering the process in time lapse, so much process condensed. Brilliant idea and a service! Thank you!

    well it is true …
well it is true that that might have worked as abstract, but it doesn’t necessarily mean that option was the only way. He could have simplified the bird for example.

    Haha. You paint …
Haha. You paint like me. I always get in trouble because I start with the darkest colour first. Also, your black bird looked heaps better as just outlines with the scrappy black inside. Would have been slightly more abstracted that way as well. Still, its pretty cool.

    Abstract is …
Abstract is anything apart from reality, you dont neccisarily have to distort something to make it abstract, just paint it differently than you would if you were trying to make a “scientifically correct” image. lol.

but it looks like you bought a beautiful canvas with a branch and a beautiful sky backdrop and put horrible tacky splodges of black on i to form a bird,

    if your piece, and …
if your piece, and dont get me wrong i think it awesome, was abstract it would show the bird with it wing for a head, or its beak for a wing. abstract means you disfigure the object its based on. and i dont see any dis figurement, just lack in detail which it would be just lacking detail. lack in detail does not make it abstract.
