Is this true or false.

~Sort of true, but the non-conformists did try to conform with one another.

That doesn’t help you does it?
Okay, collectively, it is true, but individually it is false. Same thing, said a different way. Sorry, it’s the only honest and objective way to answer.

    False – they influenced each other all over the place and worked together in pairs. How they saw something might differ, but techniques and "style" overlapped from one to the next.

    The impressionists were certainly breaking from the norm in their exploration of new technique and concept, but i wouldnt say it was a hallmark characteristic. It was definately anti-salon in practise, but i would say more IN their new concepts, technique, practise and material they defined an individual style; as a collective whole their works did not tend to vary incredibly in style and underlying ideas which focused on nature, the ever-fleeting moments in time, light and its influence on a scene, etc.
