Decade 2000-2010. You know there is one song that we can take that describes an era. I need a artist and a song of him or her that represents contemporary music of this decade. THIS IS URGENT.

I’m placing my vote with Outkast "Hey Ya"

Hi people, I’m writing an essay and my mind has gone totally blank!
I need to write about an artist whose personal life / media image affects people’s opinions of their work.
I can only think of Tracey Emin, but I’ve used her already, and people like Van Gogh who are definitely not contemporary!
Pleeaaaase give me your suggestions!
Thanks!!!!!!! :)

Suling Wang or Yoko Ono

Is Francis Bacon a contemporary artist?

I need to do an essay on contemporary artists. Is he a contemporary artist? because he was producing art in the contemporary period

Well, he’s dead, so strictly speaking he’s not contemporary, because he’s not working right now.

However, the word is also used by professionals to describe art produced since World War II, so I think you’re in the clear.

What are some issues that contemporary Feminist artist are trying to depict in their work?

Feminist artists represent the female as a symbol of power and responsibility, contrary to the traditional idea of women represented inferior to men. To make it more clear, women are depicted doing men tasks: women in military, police or firemen uniforms. It shows the equality between the genders, but it also adds sensuality and feminism to it’s original manly image.

Can someone name a new contemporary artist and also a review to go with it?

Rob Smith
Rob Smith is the latest artist to be invited to contribute a Project Space to the ArtReview website. Visitors will be presented with just one of fifteen images each time they view Scanner. As a consequence each viewer will, in effect, be presented with a different work, which slowly reveals itself, highlighting its pixel makeup as it does, on each consecutive visit.

Does anyone know what the name of the artist is who made the contemporary art video called "Murder Music"?

He had like a series thing going on. It was some crazy shit and I want to locate it. There were these girls in clown makeup speaking wildly and these two men who kept yelling, "Play the fucking remix!" I want to find this video so badly!

Found a bunch of hits under ‘murder music’ on You Tube. It seems to approximately fit what you’re talking about. This is just a trailer and discussion of the production. But if this is the group, then I guess you’re one step closer, eh?

Good luck.

Contemporary artist heavily influenced by ancient art or prehistoric art.?

Posted by admin on April 12th, 2010 and filed under contemporary artist | 1 Comment »

I have to do a presentation for my art history class on a contemporary artist that is influenced by either prehistoric art, ancient egyptian art, ancient roman art or ancient greek art. The artist can be influenced by an art movement during that time, a specific artist or a certain piece. I’ve been searching the net but I can’t seem to come up with anything. The evidence of influence should be heavy in the works of the contemporary artist. Can anyone help me? I just need a name of the artist…or if you can refer me to a website that would be smashing. Thank you kindly.

I believe I suggested to you Giorgio de Chirico (died 1978), through whose works the influence of classical sculpture runs very clearly and deeply.

See below: "Love Song," "Uncertainty of the Poet." "Piazza d’Italia," "Soothsayer’s Recompense," and so forth. See also his meditations on the myth of Ariadne, partly inspired by a sculpture in the Vatican Museum, and "La Meditazione del Mattino," below.

You might also consider the work of Bunny Harvey, who for some time was influenced by Egyptian art. You may not see that clearly on the last site I’ve given you, but if you’re serious about this project, you should e-mail her.
