What artists use themselves as inspiration for their work?

Posted by admin on August 13th, 2011 and filed under artists | 7 Comments »

I have been set an art project and part of the task is to research artists who use themselves as inspiration. I have search google but can’t find an answer! Can anyone help me out?

You can’t get inspiration that is any more personal than painter Alison Bickle who uses her own body and face, and her own fantasies and dreams as the total inspiration for her amusingly enchanting paintings.

"Alison Bickle puts herself in her own imaginative, fun fantasies, placed in her own dream-like word of exotic jungles."

"Alison Blickle uses herself as the model for her beautifully painted, fun, naughty, whimsical, humorous, fantasy paintings."

"She creates her personal dream-like world of lush foliaged Rousseauian jungles and strange settings where she is often somehow (as in everyone’s dreams) delightfully nude."

How to make your ipod not put duplicated artists under the artist category?

Posted by admin on January 1st, 2011 and filed under artists | 1 Comment »

Under my itunes my artist are organized but when I view them on my ipod it shows them with the other artists (example David Guetta & Kelly Rowland instead of just David Guetta) Is there something else I should fill in under the ‘get info" section?

I would just go through all your songs and select all the songs by one artist and just rewrite them under the same name. Sometimes it will separate them into two when there is say a space at the end of the last letter. It’s so stupid and annoying, but yeah…

Like "Lady Gaga." and "Lady Gaga ." will be considered "two" separate artists… idk why lol

What are your thoughts on artists who release a large quantity of mixtapes in a short time?

Posted by admin on December 14th, 2010 and filed under artists | 9 Comments »

Do you think it’s a good marketing strategy? And do you think it is conducive to making good music?

Seems like more rappers are starting to do this nowadays. Although southern artists have been doing it for a minute.

I for one don’t really like it, as I’m not much of a mixtape guy, and I feel like they waste their best material on something that doesn’t give it the praise it deserves.

What would be some good non swearing artists for a music project?

I have to do a music video for music class and I need to pick 3 artists and one of their songs. The song must be school appropriate. I am stuck on a song and artist to pick. I want it to be something kind of popular, but a lot of my favorite songs are bands which is NOT allowed. Any suggestions please?

Pop:
-Jason Derulo
-Rihanna
Hip-Hop/Rap
-Nelly
-Flo Rida
-B.o.B
Rock
-Daughtry
– One Republic
R&B/Soul
-Keri Hilson
– John Legend and the Roots

Hope this helps. Some songs by these artists might be explicit, but for the most part they are clean.

What are some Canadian artists that have paintings depicting aboriginal peoples?

Posted by admin on October 28th, 2010 and filed under artists | 1 Comment »

As the question says. I am doing a project so these artists must be Canadian and not aboriginal themselves.

Thank you!

Emily Carr is the most famous, though her paintings were of totems and native villages, not of actual people. You may find some people paintings of hers if you search long enough. If you want people- painting artists, there are 3 that I know of:

1) Paul Kane:

2) H.N. Binney:

3) Edmund Montague Morris:

Who are some artists that are living today whose work I would recognize?

Posted by admin on October 23rd, 2010 and filed under artists | 1 Comment »

I am looking for some artists who are alive today, but I don’t want to look at some random person whose art I have never seen before. The artist can be a painter, a sculptor, a potter, a sketch artist, or any other form of classical art.

Yo Yo Ma (classical music)

What classical songs or artists should I start with?

Posted by admin on October 21st, 2010 and filed under artists | 6 Comments »

I have developed a new taste for classical music, and I would like to know any recommendations you have for starting artists/songs. They don’t have to be famous or historically significant- just good!

it depends on what particular time period you’re interested in –
Baroque – Vivaldi, Handel, Pachelbel

Classical – Bach, Mozart

Romantic – Beethoven, Schubert

19th century – Tchiakovsky
(I might be wrong in these categorizations though)
Some of the famous songs/movements include

Vivaldi’s Four Seasons
Handel’s Water Music
Beethoven’s 5th and 9th symphonies
Tchiakovsky’s 1812 Overture
Bach’s Cello Suites
Schubert’s "Unfinished Symphony"

How do artists influence, inspire and affect change in the world?

Posted by admin on October 18th, 2010 and filed under artists | 1 Comment »

Im doing a unit in Art on how artist influence change in the world, change their styles of art based on world influence, or how they changed as a person through art. Basically anything about ‘change’. Does anyone know anything about artists that did this such as Picasso, Salvador Dali, Rauschenburg, Hockney, Escher, Anish Kapoor etc.?
Also, do you have a better example(s) of an artist creating ‘change’ or being changed?

If you take an artist like Dali, you can look at his effects on the art world starting with Dadaism and the ensuing Surrealist movement which grew out of Dadaism. His works and his contemporaries’ works were influenced by the Marxist dialectic as well, which impacted on what they produced. Dali was influenced at an earlier stage by the horrors or WWI which was one of the primary concerns of Dadaism. Picasso and his most famous Cubist work, Guernica, were also influenced by the horrors of war.

How much do artists make for selling art to wholesale retailers?

Posted by admin on October 15th, 2010 and filed under artists | 2 Comments »

I was contacted by a company that sells art in the hospitality market, hotels, large corporations etc they are interested in my artwork. Does anyone know how this market works and how much artists typically make? Can anyone explain the process so I am prepared or let me know of any resources to find the info?

Artists have a God gifted miracle in their hands and they can make alot of money buying selling it. If you are an artist, I will advise you to put your pieces of master arts on net for sale and make a bid for them..

Why are artists and musicians seem to be always attracted to damaged girls?

Posted by admin on October 12th, 2010 and filed under artists | 13 Comments »

I really like artistic guys like musicians, poets, writers and so on but those kind of guys somehow are always attracted to the mysterious girls who seem to be depressed, shy and artists themselves.
Why?

Cool question:)
I think it’s b/c they are more interesting.
As a musician, I feel like society does not understands me…..especially when society would rather listen to pop singers, than people like me…..who have LITERALLY lived in the practice room for many years. That’s why I would rather be with a poet or artist….I don’t want to date or marry someone who calls my craft "stupid" or "boring."
Frankly, those kinds of girls usually understand me.
