I am trying to complete a writing project dealing with real-life professional writing specifically geared towards fine artists. I chose to apply for an artist residency and part of the requirement is to find samples of our chosen topic and respond to their form and quality in relation to that topic. I am having a difficult enough time finding samples of statements of intent FOR artists much less the actual application samples.

If you can help me that would be wonderful.
Thanks!

Finding customer specific requirements has long been a challenge. In fact, a survey of current automotive suppliers found that a significant number did not know where to go for the latest applicable customer specific requirements. For registrars and end users, this represents a serious problem. How can rules be followed and enforced if they are not readily available?

It is with these challenges in mind customerspecifics.com was created. Here you will find a community to access, share, and discuss customer specific requirements.

Please understand that the content of this site will take some time to develop as we work hand in hand with each of you to build a comprehensive database of the thousands of available customer specific requirements. We ask that you join us in our cause as we attempt to build something great for the common benefit of the quality community

What is the first step for a visual artist like a fine art photographer or a manual artist to globally promote his or her works and so that the works contribute to the humanity -
1. Publish the works in book (like in Phaidon).
2. Contact art agencies and listen to what they say.
3. Show the works in galleries, inviting influential people, etc.
4. Contact auction organisations (like Sotheby’s).

First, I’d say, show your work in galleries. Look into your local arts organization. Then contact the art agencies. After you hear what they say, then contact the auction organizations. The last step, I’d say, is publishing a book. First, see what the public thinks of your work. I think they’ll like it!

I was just wondering if anyone knew how I would go about getting a job as a makeup artist for the adult film industry. I hear they make a good amount of money.

Well, the first step is learning how to do professional makeup for film and video.

The Makeup Artist is responsible for applying makeup and/or special makeup effects to the on-camera talent so that they appear in the “look” approved by the Director. Most of the time, beauty makeup is applied, which removes imperfections so that the result makes the talent appear better than someone could in real life. Some of the time, however, special effects makeup techniques are used to add imperfections, to enhance the reality of life or to create something wholly unnatural. Most Effects Makeup Artists can do both, but not all Beauty Makeup Artists are qualified to do effects.

You don’t just apply the makeup at the beginning of the day and forget about it. Maintenance before every shot is just as crucial, so you’ll be spending a lot of time on set as well as in your trailer. During the day, you are the Actors’ mirror. They have enough to think about, such as remembering their lines and hitting their marks. You need to instill in them the confidence that they won’t have to worry about how they look.

You must get some experience first before looking for paid employment. Find student films or indie features to work on (non-"adult") so when you do look for actual paying jobs, you’ll have a resume that shows that you have done this before.

The "adult film industry" is mostly centered in the San Fernando Valley just north of Hollywood. Once you are confident in your abilities and have a resume, contact the various adult film production companies and let them know who you are and that you are available. It is likely that they’ll already have people they like and use all of the time so you may not get in right away. Just keep calling (without being a pest) while you wait for the opportunity to open up (when someone gets sick or retires or there is a lot of work going on and not enough Makeup Artists).

Buy the equipment — it’s not too expensive. Practice on fruit. I’ve heard grapefruit works well. Then practice on yourself. Then get a friend to volunteer. You may not have as hard a time as you think if you’ve practiced a lot and did one or two pieces OK on yourself.

Then worry about getting a license, if such is necessary where you live.

At least that’s what I’d do. I have one or two people I know who’ve started and made decent progress. I’m more of a painter but one of my favorite artists started to do tattoo work and has posted some of it and maybe some other information (I vaguely remember) on her page

Im 16 and I want a tatoo, im sure about this, just because of past away relatives in my family. I do understand this would be in a garage. I would like to know if anyone knows how you can tell if a tatoo artist cleans there tools, or if you can personally ask him/her to clean the tools in front of you. I have no problem asking the artist this question straight up, because I understand a tatoo is no joke, and lasts a lifetime.

I am very sorry for you loss. I’ve been where you are. Honestly, no legit tattoo artist would put ink in a 16 year old, and not just because of laws, but because you are still growing (we continue to grow until our early 20s in fact), and because of ethical issues. If you are hell bent on doing it, save up the money and buy the items pre packaged sterilized online – ask this ass who is willing to do it what he needs and order YOUR OWN, and give them the tattooist (tattoo artists are artist, tattooists are anyone with a tatt machine). The only way to clean the tubes (the holders for the needles) is in an autoclave – and they have to go into an ultrasonic machine first to get the blood and ink off first, which only a pro would have a proper one due to high expense (spore tests must be done a minimum of monthly, as the machines aren’t eternal or without problems – as any machine), and the needles are SINGLE USE ONLY in autoclaved sterile pouches that show different colors on the back (it will say what) when sterilized. I greatly discourage you doing this, but if you must, at least do these things. Tattoos last a lifetime, but AIDS, Hepatitis, and a host of other diseases will end it much sooner, and are more common than you think. The needles and tubes arent the only thing to worry about either – the entire environment is suspect and must be of a very high standard – bacteria and infection are more common than you think too. You can wait a year or two for this piece of a lifetime. Or at least I hope you have amazing medical insurance. And a few hundred bucks saved to have it fixed to look decent by a pro once your 18 – I don’t want to sound preachy or bitchy, but I’ve sadly seen it too often.

I have an idea for a picture and I am currently searching for an artist, my pictures will be reproduced and sold for profit but how does an artist charge. Are work for hire flexible or do an artist receive one payment for their work.

All depends on the artist (skill level and notoriety), the type of work involved (medium), and the amount of work involved. Obviously, an artist with a gallery representation or a resume of substantial freelance/commission work will charge more. Also, oil paintings and similar traditional work will be more labor intensive and time consuming and thus more expensive. So it really all comes down to the type of work you need done.
