Posted by admin on March 27th, 2010 and filed under artist canvas | 7 Comments »

and he also works for you, to whom does the masterpiece he has created belong ?

In my work (sheetmetal), if I invent something on the job it automatically becomes the property of the owner of the shop cause, it was made on company time…..good luck…

I have 2 oil paintings on canvas one is titled Street signed by Lombard artist born in 1910. What is it worth?

Posted by admin on March 25th, 2010 and filed under artist canvas | 2 Comments »

The painting comes from Rudolf Lesch Fine Arts, Inc. Lombard was born in Lyon, France and was a student at Painting School of Paris. The painting is titled "Street".

I have checked on your artist and though there are a number of Lombard’s none that are listed seem to fit your criteria. Also, Rudolf Lesch Fine Arts, Inc. appears to be (have been) a publishing house in New York City that offered prints/reproductions of fine artwork. I hope this helps.

Does anybody know an artist called G. Closson, an oil painter on canvas?

Posted by admin on March 20th, 2010 and filed under artist canvas | 2 Comments »

I have an oil painting by this artist G Closson, and i am very interested in finding out more about this artist.

the artist is not famous.

Where can I find information about the artist "deiassaint?" He painted oil on canvas in the late 1940’s…

Posted by admin on March 19th, 2010 and filed under artist canvas | 1 Comment »

I purchased a painting at an antique store in Melbourne, FL and the artist from the oil on canvas painting was named deiassaint. The man at the shop told me that the artist was from Haiti and that his father brought the painting over to America and that his father was/is the Soccer coach for the Haiti team. I have tried to research deiassaint on Google and other search engines but I got no luck. I would like to know if anyone has any information about this painting; it is a landscape of abstract sailboats in the harbor with two african people on the score, blues and pinks and other vibrant colors are used.

Hi:

First , I think you have incorrectly written the artist name .
Second , I don’t think the painting was done in the 1940’s
Can you send me a Jpeg of the painting on
r.bourbon@sympatico.ca
I will see if I can help you.

is there a such thing as a 1 inch depth artists canvas?

Posted by admin on March 17th, 2010 and filed under artist canvas | 5 Comments »

i am an artist and need 4 canvases. and i would like them as thick as possible, as this is a big project. about an inch thick and and about 20 x 24". where is the best place to buy these?

You can stretch your own but it sounds like you are looking for pre-stretched canvas. If you have never stretched canvas before successfully I do not recommend it. You should not use anything less than the pre-made stretcher bars unless you are skilled in wood shop with the appropriate tools. The corners need to be interlocking joints. Stretching takes a certain mastery of the technique or the canvas will end up with ripples, not tight enough, out of square or bowed. You can buy unstretched canvas raw or pre-primed or pre-gessoed. There is a minimum size, it comes as one large piece and you have to plan out how to cut the canvas for individual pieces. They do not cut it to size for you.

Linen is more expensive than cotton. It is considered better than cotton but it is more difficult to stretch yourself. If you are stretching your own you could even use polyester from a fabric store. It is not perceived by consumers as better but it is superior to linen in terms of behavior in use for all practical purposes. There are pros that stretch a layer of polyester that they apply the paint to while they stretch a layer of linen behind it so it appears that the paint has been applied to linen to appease collectors. This is an issue of collector ignorance of sound materials and practices. What they are receiving is superior to linen alone.

These are 20"x24" and 1.5 inches deep linen canvas. They come in a box of three and there is a 2-box minimum so you would have to buy 6 canvases total. But the price being linen and only $59.00 is good.
