who was the american impressionist artist?
can anyone help me think of a famous landscape artist?
i cant think of one ![]()
tell me as many as you can think of
Look on Google for 19th century American painters- that was the age of frontier living and many many many artists focused on these new landscapes because it was the big deal in the new world.
Don’t focus too much on European landscape painters, mainly because they were seen as the lowest on the chain (religious-history-portrait-landscape) for traditional painters. This time in America, anybody who’s anybody was painting landscapes.
Also, artists like Monet (as mentioned above) DID do landscapes, but not in the sense I think you want. He painted to capture light, not to capture landscapes.
By the way. Thomas Doughty might be a good artist for you to check out. http://www.oceansbridge.com/oil-paintings/section.php?xSec=1485

Is there any possible way to make a chalk pastel drawing permanent, as well as washable, on fabric?
I’m a pastel artist and have been asked to make a drawing on someone’s shirt – and she wants to still be able to wear it. I’ve heard of the technique of soaking fabric in milk, drawing with pastels on the surface, letting it dry, and then ironing it, but that does not make the drawing washable. Is wearable chalk pastel art possible?
Make your drawing on paper, make a transfer of the design, and iron the transfer on the t-shirt.
Or see if she’ll spring for a set of Shiva paintsticks for you:

question to artist about paints on large canvas?
Can any artist out there recommend a good brand/size of paint to cover large areas of canvas. Im talking 4 x 4 feet. looking for something that I could use on a couple paintings and not have to buy a new tube just to start a new painting. Lately i’ve been experimenting with house paint – great and plentiful for covering large areas, but im not particularly liking the quality i’ve been getting. Any suggestions would be great. thanks.
It would help if we know what kind of paints you want to use, acrylic, oil, watercolor. You can buy big jars of acrylic paint in art stores, they are prices differently too. Some of the least expensive brands don’t have good coverage. I go to Utrecht for the big jars, some of them are like 1/2 gallon. Oil paints you can buy in 200ml tubes, You can go with the Blick brand which is the least expensive and has good color saturation. Georgian by Daler Rowley has probably the best value in their 200ml. Winton has some but I found them inferior to the other brands, their artist series is good but more expensive. Since you are painting on canvas I don’t think you are using watercolors, they are mostly used for smaller works and are used on paper, though I have seen huge water color paintings, but I have never seen big tubes of watercolor paint.
I paint large scale paintings usually and I use oil paint, the Georgians come in handy especially in the beginning stages.
What are some good visual artist grants for women?
Hello!
I am searching for visual artist grants of any amount that can be used toward a publication (ie: catalog, monographs, book, etc). The grant does not have to be for female artists specifically, just a plus.
I am located in Seattle, in case that matters.
I am no longer a student.
I would also appreciate any information on any databases where I can search, myself. Thank you!
Try the Seattle Office of Arts & Cultural affairs:

You can also search our website free; you would need to log into the database and select the category "Arts, Culture & Humanities" in Washington State. Then you can use keywords to narrow your search.

Whom do you consider as outstanding contemporary artist/designers in graphic design history?
if you’re a graphic designer please answer this questions…
You are asking two, separate questions. You ask, on one hand, for "contemporary" artists, meaning those working today. On the other hand, you ask about outstanding designers in "history," meaning the inclusion of artists no longer working their craft.
Andy Warhol, for example is dead, so can hardly be considered a contemporary artist. Peter Max, on the other hand, who was working during the time Warhol practiced, is STILL designing today.
I would count both of them as representative of outstanding designers in modern history. I can add to that list, Roy Lichtenstein, Norman Rockwell, Boris Vallejo and Kelley Freas.

I want to get a portrait of my grandma. It’s going to be on my arm and fairly large in size so I want to find a really great tattooer to do it because we’ve all seen bad portrait tattoos and I don’t want to end up with a cross eyed grandma on my arm forever.

Which artists should i include in my art and design research for uni?
I have to redo my art portfolio and include research on artists, i have a few in mind but i was hoping for some more inspiration. It can basically be any artist, as long as its contemporary. I’m thinking fine arts, photography and fashion. Does anyone know of any artists which arent very famous but would be good to base work on? Thanks.
i know Andy Warhol is well known, but if you really research beyond the surface I think he is a great contemp focus. He certainly is a Major milestone. and you explore/show how he got to the place where we all see him at. He has and continues to do so, influenced fine art, photography fashion, society and more more more. even if you donot "like him or his stuff he can nevetheless be fasintating
