Alphonse Mucha- impressionist or art nouveau?

Mucha is the quintessential Art Nouveau artist. He virtually defined the genre. Everything from decorative glassware to silverware to menus and calenders as well as paintings and drawings, he gave Art Nouveau the look and conceptual basis that everyone identifies as Art Nouveau. I love his work and there are many books and websites to look at. You can buy prints of a lot of his work.

It was not so much a portrait as a picture of a man in a landscape. I also thought he failed to get Mr Emerald’s hands right.

I’ve tried a lot of the cheap brands like Van Gogh and cannot find any that are high quality. (Obviously). I’m willing to spend a few extra $ if someone can give me a brand that sells pastels that are rich and smooth. Does anyone possibly have thier own recipe for beautiful colors, any secrets you’ll give up? I do oil painting too if you have secrets about enhancing paint colors.

I am personally very fond of Rembrandt pastels. I find them to be very rich and vibrant. They can be slightly costly, unfortunately. A small box of 24 half pieces can run about $50. The other benefit is that in most art supply stores you can purchase a single whole stick of a Rembrandt pastel individually.

i have tried ebay a few times but even at 99p they don’t sell. putting them in landfill seems environmentally wasteful – anyone know what i could do? thanks in advance

Try putting an advert on the notice board of your local art college, impoverished students are always happy to get a bargain.

I have a personal page and an artist page. Is it possible to link the artist page to the "music" tab on my personal page? Right now when I click that tab it leads to my artist profile on ilike rather than on facebook. Maybe they’re the same thing?

I think yes you can do this but you have to install some fan page application and that application is paid i think.

Oil painting, coastal setting perhaps west coast with cliffs? Maybe even upper west coast, looks to be American indian staffs stuck in the ground. Painting atleast 10-15 years old minimum.

I know several artists named "R Taylor", the one you are referring to is most likely "Robert Taylor" a landscape painter from the western states….then there’s "Rolla Taylor" a famous Texas artist, again a landscape painter but he used to put houses in his pieces and or chickens running around the yard and stuff like that. Then there is "Roy Taylor" another Texas artist. Taylor is such a common name among artists, it could be nearly any of them. you havent posted a photograph of the piece so I cant really say exactly which one it is. if you’d like to e-mail me a photo, i’m at theoregonarist@yahoo.com will be happy to try and figure it out for you.

The masterclass teaches a personal art research, development of artistic personality, etc and has a duration of 4 weeks staged in Paris. Materials have to be paid by the candidate.

I’ve never taken a masterclass, but I have taken some week long workshops by fairly well known artists and this is what I have learned:
1. They are egocentric and either don’t want to really share personal secrets with you, or will criticize your work if it threatens them.
2. They don’t really want to teach, but they can get so much money for it they do it anyway – and you get to pay for some attitude.

Take from real teachers… people who may not be the most famous artist in the world but who know the principles and love helping you along.

The art consulting company I work for is trying to figure out where we should do internet advertising in order to get more artists to send in their work for us to review and possibly take them on and represent them. We already have deviantart, pangaeaa, talentdatabase, and fanartreview. Does anyone have any other ideas? It doesnt have to be a place where artists show their work (although that would be great!). Just anywhere that a lot of artists would visit and view. Thanks!
