Can anyone give me any good urban landscape artists?

Posted by admin on December 30th, 2009 and filed under landscape artist | 1 Comment »

I need some good landscape artist that preferably do urban scenes that i can use in my art work because im struggling to find some i like. Some with interesting colour choices and techniques would be good and some that arn’t to hard to copy. Thanks

You could perhaps have a look at L.S.Lowry he painted many urban scenes. He only used five colours they were Flake white, Black, Prussian blue, Vermillion, and Yellow ochre – I think I’ve got that right?
He used a predominantly rich impasto style. Which seemed to suit the subjects he painted.
He painted parts of industrial Lancashire for which he is usually remembered. He also did more conventional landscapes and town scenes, particularly Berwick upon Tweed. Hope this helps.
Regards Lawrence.

Pastel artists: What brand of pastels and papers should I purchase to do quality professional portraits?

Posted by admin on December 30th, 2009 and filed under pastel artist | 3 Comments »

There are many types of pastels that are considered high quality but it isn’t just quality but detail as well. For that nothing beats a pastel pencil. Some of the best are made by Conte and they are a bit expensive. You will also need a board with a clamp to put your art sheets to. Many quality pastel sets have portraiture pastel sets, like Grumbacher, that come with the right colors for portraits but that may be too limiting. You need to experiment with hard and soft pastels because that is just as important as who makes them. I recommend a medium soft because you will usually need it to not be too soft. Hope that helps.

How much should I pay an artist to paint my business logo on giant canvas?

Posted by admin on December 30th, 2009 and filed under artist canvas | 3 Comments »

The artist is a very good friend of ours from college. The logo is a tree with a violinist and a pianist playing underneath it. The canvas will be maybe 4′ tall and 10′ wide. We’ll provide the canvas, she’ll use her own painting supplies. Painting isn’t currently her full-time gig, she does campus Christian ministry. I don’t think she normally does art for money at all, if ever, but her bachelor’s degree is in art and I like her work. How much should I offer her? Thanks.

Tell her you will pay her for time and materials. Ask what she is worth per hour based on what she makes now on her job.
And times that by how many hours ,lets say for example she makes 15 to 20 dollars per hour on her job. And it takes her 2 hours that would come to 40 $ dollars plus material cost.
If it takes 10 hours then you would pay $ 200.00 dollars.
That is a fair way to do it and just tell her to keep track
of her hours.

What artist has drawings of a fantasy story that is about to happen?

Posted by admin on December 30th, 2009 and filed under artist | 1 Comment »

I’m finding it hard to explain. He is famous for these drawings of for example: these kids are in a boat and a huge castle is seen riding on a cloud in the far distance. Also a bird or something that is part of the wallpaper is peeling itself off the wall to fly away. Who is this artist?
I’m sure he is from this century. Not sure what country. I believe almost all of his drawings are in black and white.

From where is this artist? Please explain more!

How can I find out the artist’s names signed on two prints?

Posted by admin on December 30th, 2009 and filed under artist prints | 5 Comments »

I inherited two beautiful water color prints that are signed and numbered. I cannot decipher the signatures. How can I find out who they are? Any suggestions are welcome.

Take them , or a photo of them, to a museum, or an art teacher at school, or a local college. If they are signed and numbered they might have been done by an artist at least well off enough to have their work printed, or done it themselves as there must have been at least some demand. How high does the number go and you will have an idea of the total copies of the painting.done.

who is the artist who painted the les miserables painting?

Posted by admin on December 30th, 2009 and filed under painting artist | 2 Comments »

the one on miami ink.
one of the guys on miami ink tattooed a les miserables painting on a some woman. i want to know the name of the artist who painted the painting they tattooed on her. :)
the painting is of a little girl named Cosette. she is crying bloody tears and it has a gothic feel.

thanks for the answers. :) i appreciate them but those aren’t the paintings i was talking about.

Since you do not provide a link I am not sure if I have the right painting in mind. But I think it might be "Liberty" by Delacroix. Basically "Le Miserables" was set in and around the creation of the French republic.

Hope this helps! :-)

How many CDs does a top selling adult christian contemporary artist sell?

Posted by admin on December 30th, 2009 and filed under contemporary artist | 2 Comments »

How does that compare with a mainstream release? What level of sales does it take to break the Billboard top 200? Who are the top selling adult christian contemporary artists? OK, that is 4 questions, but they are all related.

They sell a lot more if they don’t let on they’re christian. Understandably, christian records sell less than mainstream acts, and equally understandably, being identified as christian will diminish sales considerably.
Christian SoundScan (probably a dubious source, at best) claims that christian music ranked the 6th most popular category. Not very impressive.
An example is that, last year, only 3 christian albums sold more units in the year than Norah Jones’ 3rd album sold in a week. Only 1 christian album moved more than 1 million units in the USA. 667 million units moved in 2006, of which 46 million were designated christian (by christians), so less than 10% of sales.

What are classic artists that everyone should have on their playlists?

Posted by admin on December 30th, 2009 and filed under artists | 1 Comment »

I’m fairly young and now that I’ve been listening to a lot of Michael Jackson, I’m curious of other artists from the past that I should be sure to listen to. I’d like artists from any genre but I want the classics.

I’m a rocker, so you’re gonna get a lot of classic rock.

Led Zeppelin – any and all songs!
Pink Floyd – all songs
Black Sabbath – all the stuff with Ozzy is my favorite, but you can check out the later years with Dio
the Doors – all
Genesis – all
Steve Miller Band
Bad Company

I could keep going, but that’s a good start!
