Has anyone heard of a pastel artist by the name of P. LeMon?
Sounds French, The drawing is campsite along river with a fire, and a pot hanging above fire. Has rowboat, and full moon. Frame looks to be around 1920.
There is an artist named Arthur Lemon around 1850-1912
my step father was an oil painter among other things, I bet i couldn’t find one of his hundreds of paintings if I tried though. many painters like him never sold paintings in auction or in a public forum.
sorry couldn’t help -good luck
How can i remove mold/mildew permanently from the back of a artist canvas without damaging the painting?
I have numerous acrylic/oil paintings that have mold at the back of the canvas. How can i remove this mold permanently without damaging the canvas? Are there special sprays/solutions for this?
Use a solution of one part household bleach and 20 parts cold water, wipe the area with this – but DO NOT soak the canvas – then rinse off with clear water. Repeat if necessary. Be sure not to let the solution wet the canvas, you’re only removing the mold from the surface. If the canvas becomes wet from rinsing, let it dry completely before repeating.
Please don’t use any weird household cleaners… bleach is the safest as long as you rinse it off after.
What artist do you consider to make authentic country music, and vice versa?
I need to do a project where you talk about an artist that is authentic in a genre, and an artist that is not. Ideas for places to find information would be great too. Any suggestions?
Tracy Lawrence is a pretty authentic country singer, in my opinion.
George Strait and Brooks& Dunn are examples of country singers who started out being really authentic but who have recently taken a turn towards producing music that fits more into the "modern" genre of country.
Taylor Swift and Carrie Underwood are probably good examples of artists who frequently get classified under the country genre but really aren’t. Good luck! =]
I would like to buy a few prints from my favorite artist, how do I know they are original?
HI, I would like to buy a few prints from my favorite artist, Beksinski. He has been dead since 2005, and on his official website, a gallery sells a bunch of limited edition prints of his work. They do not have his signature, but a signature of the gallery. The price is $395. My question is if I should buy it? What’s the value of it and if it’s respected among the art collectors. I do not know much about art, and I will respect every answer. Thank you.
The prints you mention that are $395 are NOT limited edition/signed by the artist prints; they are art prints/reproductions of prints–kind of like posters. The value is whatever the seller can get for them.
There are a few limited edition/signed prints still available via Zdzislaw Beksinski’s official site, http://www.beksinski.pl/. Click on "Limited Editions On Sale Now" towards the upper right of the screen to access this information.
Good artist! Hope you get some!
How do I find out about an old painting and the artist?
My friend bought an old painting but we can’t find out anything about the artist or the painting. We tryed but no one seems to know anything about it. How can we get information on this painting and artist?
Unless it’s a well known or historic artist, your best bet is to take the painting to a professional appraiser. Most honest appraisers will tell you if it’s not worth the price of appraisal. It’s the only difinitive way to know the true value of your painting.
What is the name of a popular, modern contemporary artist?
I need the name of a modern contemporary artist that is well known.
first you should know that "modern" and "contemporary" are not the same thing. when referring to art, "modern" means "modernism," or an era of art when traditional ways of seeing were turned on their ears. the first link below can tell you more about modern art.
contemporary art (art of right now) is more "postmodern" or after modern.
some of the suggestions below are good.
damien hirst is the guy famous for exhibiting corpses of animals suspended in tanks of colored liquid. he’s always fun. the second link below will show you his work.
jeff koons became famous in the eighties for deliberate kitsch. he’s famous for porcelain sculptures of michael jackson, and of himself and his porn-star wife having sex. the third link below is his website.
cindy sherman is famous for her series of photographs in which she dressed herself up as characters from movies that were never made. a link to her website is below as well.
laylah ali is an artist who makes cartoonish paintings that think about violence and race. there’s a link to information about her below as well.
and you might really like tom friedman, who uses everyday materials, like toothpaste and construction paper, to make beautiful, funny, and weird sculpture. he doesn’t have a website, so i’ve included a link to a google image search for his work at the bottom.
Any artist interested in painting an animal portrait?

What artists have drawn or painted the changing seasons?
Again I basically need a list of Artists who’ve drawn or painted the different seasons i.e Monet’s poplars. Artists who’ve drawn the same picture but at different times of the year and so different seasons would be great but those who’ve painted different seasons intentionally but not necessarily painted the same place are welcome too.
By the way I only want the names of well known artists such as the likes of Monet, Constable, Van Gogh etc Basically artists that are not alive today.
Finally I’ve also asked some other art related questions, look at my profile and my questions to find them, your help answering any of them would be great.
Many artists, most notably the Impressionist and Post-Impressionist artists, painted several versions of a picture, apart from the well-recognized ones. Claude Monet and Paul Cézanne were two of them. Vincent van Gogh was a Post-Impressionist artist who also painted in subject matter that represented a variety of seasons.
Monet’s series of paintings, known as his Cathedral Series, includes a painting titled in English, ‘Rouen Cathedral, West Facade, Sunlight’ (1894). Another painting is called ‘Rouen Cathedral, Sunset’ (1892-1894). The series is a depiction of the Cathedral of Rouen at different times of the day and in different seasons. It is a noteworthy example.
Paul Cézanne painted a number of renditions of one subject, Mont Ste-Victoire. The mountain does not change much according to season or time of day. Cézanne deliberately painted over 30 versions of this mountain in order to express the idea of permanence. Put another way, he painted Mont Ste-Victoire in order to express his belief that "beneath sifting appearances was an essential, unchanging armature." zt is for this reason that he could have used changing facets for portraying the same subject.
If you look up the Fauve artists, such as André Derain with his picture of ‘Big Ben’ (1905), for example, you might find variations of one painting. Also, the Fauve artist Henri Matisse is known to have painted several canvases of one subject.
You might find some seasonal variations in the paintings of American Symbolist painter Albert Pinkham Ryder (1847-1917). He distinguished himself for his seascapes.
